The adventure begins - Dorene and I have been looking and praying for a house that we could mold to our personalities.  Both of us have had a lifelong dream to find a house that needed TLC and bring it back to life.  This is it.  The house was built in 1924 and sits on a the bluff looking over the golf course.  Inside the house, the walls are paneling - over drywall - over oilcloth wall cover - over ship lathe (planks).  The walls are 7 inches thick.  We are taking off the paneling - and the drywall - and the oilcloth - and the ship lathe - - all the way to the studs (real 2x4).  Once we get it peeled, we are going to rewire it (the wiring is after all nearly 90 years old).  The stairs in the house are only 28 inches wide and the space where they are won't accommodate the 36 inch width requirement for stairs in current code.  SO, we are going to move the stairs as well.  While this is going on, we are going to have the foundation rebuilt - the beams are okay, but the piers need to be replaced.
This is the way we found the kitchen - the counters gone and the floor in zero to four layers.  So we are continuing to remove what is here and start from scratch.  Cool.  Currently the cabinets in the photo have been pulled out and the wall with the white square (where the sink used to be) will be taken out and joined to the room next door.
